Description:
Integrated Mathematics 1 follows the common core standards in the categories of Modeling, Functions, Number and Quantity, Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics. In this course, students deepen their understanding of functions, equations, and geometry while building on concepts learned in earlier grades. They begin to see functions as both input-output processes and objects that can be combined and transformed. They interpret and translate functions using graphs, tables, equations, and words. Students compare linear and exponential relationships by analyzing the patterns and parameters of a function, including their connections to arithmetic and geometric sequences. They strengthen their skills with linear equations and inequalities, extend their understanding of exponential equations, and apply regression to model real-world data. Students learn to represent data and compare the center and spread with dot plots, box plots, and histograms. They further summarize categorical data to interpret relative frequencies and identify associations and trends. This course includes a review and deeper understanding of geometric properties and theorems involving congruent figures. Students establish triangle congruence through rigid motions, solve problems involving polygons, and use coordinate geometry to explore slopes, distances, and properties of shapes. In conclusion, Integrated Mathematics I emphasizes modeling, reasoning, and making connections between algebra, geometry, and data.
