The 4th Grade Utah State History course guides young learners on a journey through the fascinating story of the Beehive State. Students begin with an overview of Utah geography and explore ancient Native American cultures, including the effect of the arrival of European explorers. Students learn about the pioneer era, including the contributions of Latter-day Saints, that led to Utah’s statehood. Students identify Utah’s role in events leading up to the modern day, including World War II and the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. Students survey Utah’s governments and explore Utah’s stunning landscapes and landmarks in the Mighty Five national parks and state parks. The course concludes with a look at Utah’s cities and ways to protect natural resources.
