Description:
In 3rd Grade Arizona History, students gain a sense of pride in their state as they discover the rich history, state symbols, culture, and geography of Arizona. The course begins with a geographic survey of Arizona’s climate and physical geography. Students explore Arizona’s prehistoric cultures and then trace Arizona’s history from Spanish rule to the formation of the Arizona Territory. A study of Arizona’s colorful territorial period—including the Age of Silver, arrival of railroads, and the Five Cs—leads up to statehood in 1912 and an examination of the state constitution. After investigating the importance of civic participation, students research historical events of the 20th and 21st centuries. Students finish the course with a look at modern-day Arizona and its cultural and natural treasures.
