1st Grade PE

Term: N/A

Online: Yes
Paper: Yes

Accomodated/Modified Available: No

Description:
1st Grade Physical Education builds upon foundational movement skills while introducing more complex motor patterns and game strategies. The course develops competency in advanced locomotor skills (hopping, galloping, sliding, skipping) and refined manipulative skills using hands and feet (throwing, catching, dribbling, kicking), and implements use of paddles and jump ropes. Students learn spatial awareness, rhythmic movement, cross-lateral coordination, and how to sequence multiple skills together. Through structured activities and games, students explore outdoor recreation, understand nutrition’s connection to physical performance, and practice essential safety procedures. Social-emotional learning is integrated through partner work, teamwork, and conflict resolution. The course emphasizes following multistep directions, working cooperatively, practicing giving and receiving feedback respectfully, and understanding how regular physical activity contributes to lifetime wellness. Students set personal fitness goals and develop perseverance when facing challenges. Activities progress from individual skill development to creative game design, building confidence and personal enjoyment in movement, while preparing students for future physical education experiences.
