Job Title: Digital and Print Layout Artist
Reports to: Digital Curriculum Manager
Wage/Hour Status: Hourly/Fulltime
Dept./School: Curriculum Development
The Layout Artist will insert text, questions, graphics, maps, and diagrams in Elementary and High School online courses. The Layout Artist will also correct, typeset, and format the printed version of our K-12 courses. The Layout Artist will take direction from the Digital Curriculum Manager and follow prescribed standards and policies to achieve and maintain a cohesive look in both our online and paper curriculum.

In 2015, Bright Thinker’s curriculum was developed in both paper and digital forms to serve the most challenging students in K – 12th grades. Our solutions work well for advanced students and those in credit recovery and supplemental applications, too. Today, numerous alternative accountability charter schools in Texas, including ISDs, use our core classes curriculum, making us a proven leader in student success.
Bright Thinker provides students a rigorous academic experience, with the intent of preparing them for the successes measured by standardized assessments and collegiate preparedness. The Bright Thinker team has developed educational products that adhere to state and national standards in architecture and curriculum content. Students will experience a variety of instructional content that is academically challenging yet visually engaging to stimulate the educational mind and encourage academic discovery.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited Four-Year College or University preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have 2+ years of experience in layout or digital document creation
- Experience with K-12 grade-level curriculum preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES(KSAs):
- Must have experience working with Adobe Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Acrobat on a PC platform
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google apps
- Must be flexible and very detail-oriented
- Must work on tight deadlines
- Must have a general working knowledge of the internet and online
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to research new styles, techniques, and tools
- Must have the ability to communicate well with team members
- Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Must have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
PREFERRED KSAs:
- 2+ years of experience in layout or digital document creation
- Experience with K-12 grade-level curriculum preferred
As a Digital Layout Artist, you will support the Curriculum Development Department by creating text, graphics, and media pieces into an existing online learning service or InDesign document. When creating the course content, the Layout Artist will follow set guidelines and procedures as to size, content, and design of online and printed materials. The Layout Artist will also adapt their workflow and schedules to meet upcoming deadlines. The Layout Artist will also work alongside the Curriculum Development Department Manager to perform special projects during or after normal business hours and other duties as assigned. This position will require travel as needed.
